Touch the Sunrise

Where do I go from here

A cloudy trail says

Try me

Night is near

Darkness calls the sun

To fall

Into the sea

Can I believe

The morning

Won’t be gone forever

Let me see

The Spirit

Let me hear the Wind

Let me listen for the Quiet

Let me touch the Sunrise

Meet Gary Sandberg, a new frequent contributor, in his own words:

I was born in North Platte, Nebraska. I grew up on a farm/ranch southwest of North Platte in the sandhills.

After graduating high school in 1955, I went to stay with an aunt and uncle in the Los Angeles area and attended college at Fullerton and Long Beach State and would go home to Nebraska each summer.

I married in 1958 and moved with my wife Esther to Anaheim, Ca.

I was in the Army in 1962 and 1963 and Esther and I lived in Aschaffenburg, Germany.

In 1964 we moved to the Seattle Area and raised 2 children. I was involved in the construction business, as a partner in an inspection and testing company as well as building and remodeling houses and apartments.

I helped to start a private school in 1969, which is still operating today as Hillside Student Community located on Cougar Mountain above Eastgate. My wife Esther died in 2018. I was blessed to get together with a longtime friend and neighbor Lynn McGlocklin, whose husband had also died a few years ago. We figure between us we have over 100 years of experiences on which to draw.

Life is good.
